Born of the Sea are We,
Alive with Magic and Light
Since long before time began.
All knowing – all powerful,
Together in blissful union we swim.
Never alone.
We ground ourselves intentionally.
Growing arms and legs and air breathing lungs,
We are reborn.
We soon forget from where we came,
The majesty of the Sea is lost to us,
As we grow up,
Forever in a dream.
Confusion, disconnect, discord…
Something is wrong; but what?
We make the best we can of life
On this island in the Sea.
Then comes a time when our new lungs
No longer can breathe air,
Our island bodies crumble,
Is this the end? Despair?
But when our lungs collapse so does the dream,
No longer do we sleep.
We begin to remember who we are,
And then – again…we are free.
Unshackled by the island dream,
Back to the Sea we go.
Where endless waters welcome us,
Together, again, we know.
This island trip is one we take,
Time and time again.
Each time we return we bring with us,
Some wisdom we did gain.
Now we can choose this island path through life,
And not accept the dream.
As many here begin to feel,
Life is more than it may seem.
So find your way back to the shore,
And step into the surf.
Be present, if only for a while,
In both the Infinite and the Earth.
