New Mental Health Podcast

I’ve not done an update type post before, so this is a first for me. I am writing this post to let you know about one of my current projects. It’s a mental health podcast and I plan on launching it at the end of January.

I recently ran a survey and got a lot of great feedback about different ways that I can help people, and about the different issues that people want help with.  I had thought about doing a podcast before, but this feedback confirmed for me that there is a need for it. If it can provide value for people then I’m very happy to do it.

The survey is still live here, and if you want to help me out by taking it, that would be super helpful. It will inform the way I roll out the content for the podcast. I plan on dividing the episodes between two formats. The first being where I will take a topic that people want help with and talk about what I would do with that issue in therapy, and different ways in which you can help yourself. The second format will be where I invite a guest onto the show who has their own expertise in specific areas of mental health, wellness, or coaching, and we’ll have a conversation about what they know can help people. I expect a lot of very useful, actionable advice will come from these episodes.

There’s another reason that I wanted to create this post, and that is accountability. By announcing the podcast here now, and by publicly committing to getting it out by the end of January, I am making it harder for myself to not achieve that goal. There’s a lot of work involved in setting up a new podcast, and in my case a lot of new technical skills to learn too. Currently there are just over 1000 people who visit this blog per month. Now I know that’s not much by internet standards, but it’s enough to keep me motivated and on track now that I’ve announced my goal. The holidays are coming (cue Coke ad) and I’m busy in work anyway, so without this accountability I feel it would be easy to take my foot off the pedal and miss the January deadline.

So that’s it. A shorter post this time. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions for the podcast I’d love to hear them. Get in touch with me through the comments below, or connect with me through the social media buttons on this page and I will certainly get back to you. Follow me on Facebook or Twitter for updates about the podcast and everything else I am working on. For now though, it’s back to work for me!

Have a great day.

Namasté :)
